Animals that are never stale
Every animal is a record with a status: available, pending, foster only, adopted. Pending shows as pending instead of an "is she still there?" email, and an adopted animal leaves the page by itself two weeks after its date.
An application pre-filled from the animal
Press Apply on an entry and the form arrives with that animal named. It checks the household against the entry's own needs (cats, small children, a yard) and says what happens next. Demo mode: it validates and sends nothing.
The foster board
This week's needs on one staff sheet: a litter, a medical hold, two shy cats. What the rescue always supplies is on every line, and Colorado's eight-animal foster rule is stated with its source.
Adoption days with shifts
Each event has handler, greeter and setup places; a full shift stays listed as full and a past event vanishes. The home page shows the next one.
What a gift covers
$50 is one animal's vaccines; $917 is one animal's whole stay, computed from the year's cost per animal. No processor, on purpose.
Financials with the licence
Three 990s, the review, the letter, the PACFA licence number and the county transfer contract in one paragraph; the live-release rate with the method it was counted by.

This is Hazel. She came to Copper Ridge Animal Rescue on the 28th of August, recovering from surgery on a back leg.
Copper Ridge is an old feed store on Mill Street. Three staff, one part-timer, and 85 foster homes. Last year, 612 animals came through its doors.
First stop: the vet. Vaccines, a microchip, and for Hazel, surgery. The average animal costs about $917, and one surgery can cost more than that on its own.
Next, Hazel needs a foster home. Three quiet weeks: no stairs, no jumping. The rescue sends her medication, a crate, food, and a ride to her follow-up visits if needed. Once she is listed, her foster family gets the first chance to keep her.
Last year, 571 animals were adopted. Hazel is still waiting for her foster home. Foster, adopt, or give monthly, so the vet can say yes to the next surgery without a phone call first.
