Sample 12 · Free clinic

Sawmill Free ClinicA sample free-clinic website. The organization is invented.

A free medical clinic run by volunteer clinicians in a mill town in western North Carolina: four staff, about sixty volunteers, 5,200 visits last year, a budget of about $700,000. The site is drawn like hospital signage: three numbered steps first, and the door after them.

The invented organization
  • KindFree medical clinic, volunteer clinicians, evening hours
  • BudgetAbout $700,000; expenses $698,000 in FY2025
  • Staff4, and about 60 volunteer clinicians
  • Pages6; hours, closures, the income table and dental days staff-editable
  • Look"Wayfinding": white, deep teal and signal orange, big numbered steps, a colour bar on every row
  • Real? No. Every person, number and document is invented and labelled; no patient or clinician is ever pictured

Brand sheet

One name, one look, one voice.

Every sample has its own brand, set once and used the same way on every page, from the home page to the financials. It is the same work we do for your organization.

  • A name and a wordmark, set in one display type
  • Four or five colours, each with one job
  • One type for reading, chosen for the people the site serves
  • One line that says what the organization does, used in search, listings and the share preview

What to try

Six things to press, in order.

Each one is a working feature, and each one is an example of what we build. Nothing you do on the site is recorded.

01

Do I qualify, in dollars

Three steps, with the income line as a table in dollars for households of one to four. A calculator under it reads the same table and answers likely eligible, or likely over the limit, call us anyway. Nothing leaves the page.

Try: enter a household of three and a monthly income; the answer comes from the table.
Home →
The home page: the three steps and the income table
02

Open now, computed

"Closed today. Next session Monday, 5 pm to 8 pm" is worked out from the hours sheet, the closures sheet and the clock, never typed. Home and Get care read the same line.

Try: read the status strip at the top; it names the next session.
Get care →
The Get care page with the status strip
03

The application, in English and in Spanish

The same fields under plain Spanish labels marked as a sample translation. It asks only what eligibility needs: household size, an income band, insurance, county, a phone number. Nothing clinical, and nothing is sent.

Try: switch to Español and fill it with the sample.

The application on the Get care page
04

Seven services, $0 to the patient

Every service is a signage strip: who it is for, how often, what the patient pays ($0) and what it costs the clinic per visit, with the sentence that says how that number was worked out.

Try: open "How that was worked out" under primary care.
Services →
The Services page: strips with the cost per visit
05

Clinician credentialing in public

The five steps before a volunteer sees a patient, each with its source: the licence check, the North Carolina limited volunteer licence where it applies, federal malpractice coverage through the free-clinic program, orientation, a first session beside staff. Roles by licence type, with places open, and a demo sign-up.

Try: read the steps, then sign up with the sample; the result says what a real site would do.

06

Donated medication, valued and kept separate

$1,640,000 of donated medication is shown with its valuation method and never added to the year. The year adds up without it, the cost per visit is $698,000 divided by 5,200, and the filings are labelled samples.

Try: check that $698,000 ÷ 5,200 is $134; it is the number on the Give page too.

The staff side

Sign in. No password. Nothing you change is saved.

The button below signs you in to the real staff area as sample staff. You see what the organization's staff would see: one menu, a tile per tool, and the checks.

  • 01Tiles for Clinic hours, Closures, Services, Income table, Volunteer roles, Dental days, Numbers, Financial documents, Year-end
  • 02Checks: no hours posted, a closure with no date, the income table set from last year's guidelines, a service or number with no method line, a dental day full or within two weeks
  • 03The income table carries the guideline year, so the checks can say when it is a year old
  • 04Press Update on anything and the screen says "Nothing was saved"

Sample video

A clinic night, in a minute.

A sample of the one-minute videos in the plan: who qualifies, what a visit costs, and where the money went, told from the clinic’s own numbers.

  1. 1You send the photos and clips you already have, and a line or two on what the video is for: year-end giving, volunteers, an event, the story in your 990.
  2. 2We write a one-minute script from what is on your site and in your filing, and send it for your yes.
  3. 3We make it within one week of getting your material: about a minute, wide and vertical, captions burnt in, and a text version for your site.

Up to five a year are in the plan, at no extra charge. The first five nonprofits can have one free: see the offer →

Sample video. Sawmill is invented, so it has no footage of its own: the clips are free stock (Pexels), no patient is shown, and the narration is a synthetic voice. For a real organization connectNPO uses only the photos and clips its staff send.

Read the script instead (about one minute)

A mill town in western North Carolina, at five on a Monday.

This is Sawmill Free Clinic, on Mill Street since 1998.

Open evenings and Thursday mornings. About sixty volunteer clinicians. The patient pays nothing.

Three steps to qualify: income under the line, no health insurance, and living in Sawmill County.

(On screen: sample line for one person, $2,660 a month — 200% of the 2026 HHS poverty guideline, rounded.)

In the last year: 1,400 patients, and 5,200 visits. (On screen: 6,100 volunteer clinician hours, counted, not valued.)

Each visit cost the clinic $134. (On screen: $698,000 ÷ 5,200 visits = $134. The patient pays $0.)

Donated medication, $1.64 million at wholesale, is kept out of the totals.

$698,000 went out. Forty-six cents of each dollar is the four staff.

$720,000 came in, from foundations, gifts, the hospital, congregations, and the fall dinner. (On screen: $22,000 kept for the reserve.)

The filings are all on the site. Check if you qualify, volunteer, or give.

Sample video · Sawmill Free Clinic is invented and every figure is a sample. Clips are free stock (Pexels). The narration is a synthetic voice and the music is AI-generated. Made by connectNPO.
