Sample 01 · Soil cleanup after fire

Cinder & RootA sample soil-cleanup website. The organization is invented.

Burned and polluted ground in one foothill county, tested before and after, and cleaned with fungi, plants and char instead of trucks. Six staff, about sixty volunteers, a budget of about $610,000, and a free soil test for any resident who asks. The home page is a scroll story: a burned mountain, one slope, a line on the map, and the soil itself.

Brand sheet

One name, one look, one voice.

Every sample has its own brand, set once and used the same way on every page, from the home page to the financials. It is the same work we do for your organization.

  • A name and a wordmark, set in one display type
  • Four or five colours, each with one job
  • One type for reading, chosen for the people the site serves
  • One line that says what the organization does, used in search, listings and the share preview

What to try

Six things to press, in order.

Each one is a working feature, and each one is an example of what we build. Nothing you do on the site is recorded.

01

A home page that scrolls like a film

Smoke drifts over the burned ground, then the page zooms from a burned mountain into one slope and draws the site line, backs out to a map of fourteen sites, and goes down a soil core while the sample reading counts from 410 to 96.

Try: scroll slowly from the top; each scene does something different.

02

Every site, before and after

Fourteen sites, each with a first and a second reading drawn as bars, how they were measured and what happens next. Staff move a site from stage to stage in one screen; the map pins, the counts and this page follow.

Try: filter to Done; four sites carry a second test.
Sites →

03

A free test that asks nothing about health

Test days list the slots left; a full day stays listed as full and leaves the form. The request asks where the property is and what kind of ground, never about the people living on it. Demo mode: nothing is sent.

Try: send the form empty, then filled; read what a real site would do.

04

Seats, jobs and a stipend

Courses show their seats as boxes and drop off the day they start; the long course pays burn-area residents to take it. Jobs leave the page the day after they close.

Try: hold a seat on the practitioner course.

05

Guides with a checked date

Four sample guides, two in Spanish, each with the date someone last checked it still holds. A guide not checked in a year shows up on the staff side.

Try: download the Spanish guide; every page is labelled a sample.

06

What the money did

The year adds up, $612,400 in and $588,900 out, 81% on the work itself. Three sample 990s, a review and the determination letter, each labelled on every page. The give panel and the supplies list sit on their own page.

Try: find the service contracts line, then open a 990.

The button below signs you in to the real staff area as sample staff. You see what the organization's staff would see: one menu, a tile per tool, and the checks.

  • 01Tiles for Sites, Test days, Courses, What we need, Jobs, Guides, Financial documents, Page text, Year-end
  • 02Checks: a Done site with no second reading, a reading with no method, no test day in 30 days, a course under half full a week out, a guide not checked in a year
  • 03Every sentence on every page is a field on the Page text screen; the layout stays in code
  • 04Press Update on anything and the screen says "Nothing was saved"

Sample video

A year after the fire, in a minute.

A sample of the one-minute videos in the plan: testing, the slow cleanup, one site’s reading, and where the money went, told from its own numbers.

  1. 1You send the photos and clips you already have, and a line or two on what the video is for: year-end giving, volunteers, an event, the story in your 990.
  2. 2We write a one-minute script from what is on your site and in your filing, and send it for your yes.
  3. 3We make it within one week of getting your material: about a minute, wide and vertical, captions burnt in, and a text version for your site.

Up to five a year are in the plan, at no extra charge. The first five nonprofits can have one free: see the offer →

Sample video. Cinder & Root is invented, so it has no footage of its own: the clips are free stock (Pexels), no face appears, and the narration is a synthetic voice. For a real organization connectNPO uses only the photos and clips its staff send.

Read the script instead (about one minute)

A year after the fire.

This is Cinder and Root, in the Sable Hills, since twenty twenty-three. We clean burned and polluted ground with fungi, plants and char.

First, we test. Cores from each site go to an outside lab, and the results go up on that site's page.

Then living things do the slow work. Straw grown through with oyster mushroom. Then sunflowers, mustards and native grasses.

Fourteen sites are on the record. Four are finished, with a second test under the county's level.

At the old depot yard, the sample reading for lead went from four hundred and ten to ninety-six milligrams per kilogram. Same lab, same depth.

In twenty twenty-five, Cinder and Root spent five hundred and eighty-eight thousand, nine hundred dollars. Site cleanup, research and the lab, and training: eighty-one percent went to the work itself.

Six hundred and twelve thousand, four hundred came in: grants, gifts, contracts with public agencies, and training fees.

Every site, every reading, every filing is on the site. Ask for a soil test, learn the work, or give.

Sample video · Cinder & Root is invented and every figure is a sample. Clips are free stock (Pexels). The narration is a synthetic voice and the music is AI-generated. Made by connectNPO.
