Sample 08 · Food pantry

Quarry Road Food PantryA sample food-pantry website. The organization is invented.

A client-choice pantry in a former hardware store in a central Ohio town: open three days a week, 110 volunteers, two staff, 1,380 households last year, a cash budget of about $400,000. The site is a kitchen table: warm, rounded, and written for the person who is nervous about coming.

The invented organization
  • KindClient-choice food pantry, a TEFAP partner agency
  • BudgetCash $412,000 in FY2025; donated food valued separately
  • Staff2, and about 110 volunteers
  • Pages6, the hours, closures and needs list staff-editable
  • Look"The kitchen table": cream, olive and tomato, a gingham stripe, rounded white cards
  • Real? No. Every number, name and document is invented and labelled; no client is ever pictured

What to try

Six things to press, in order.

Each one is a working feature, and each one is an example of what we build. Nothing you do on the site is recorded.

01

Open or closed, computed

Three opening days and a few closures on one staff sheet. "Closed right now — opens tomorrow, Saturday, 9 a.m." is worked out from them and the clock, never typed; the same records feed the footer, the search-engine hours and a line for the Google Business Profile.

Try: read the card at the top; come back on a Thursday evening.

02

Get food, written for the client

What to expect, what to bring (nothing), the one signed line explained with its source, a Spanish summary, and a reservation slot in demo mode. No questions about why.

Try: fill the reservation with the sample; the result explains what a real site would do.

03

What we need this week

Out, low or enough, with a date on every line. Home, Give and the drive flyer read the same list, and a stale line drops off by itself.

Try: compare the list on Home and Give; it is one record.

04

Host a drive, print the flyer

Type an organization and dates and the page makes a dated flyer with the drop-off hours and this week's list. Print shows only the flyer. Nothing is sent.

Try: make a flyer with the sample; then print preview.

05

Shifts by distribution day

Receiving the truck, sorting, the three distribution days, drivers: places needed and filled each week. A full shift stays listed; a one-off date vanishes when it has passed.

Try: sign up for a full shift; you are offered the waiting list.

06

Numbers with a method, statements in full

Monthly households, people and pounds with how each is counted; the year is the sum of the months. Financials carry three 990s, donated food valued separately, and the USDA nondiscrimination statement in full, as a TEFAP site must.

Try: check that the year equals the twelve months.

The button below signs you in to the real staff area as sample staff. You see what the organization's staff would see: one menu, a tile per tool, and the checks.

  • 01Tiles for Opening hours, Closures, Needs list, Volunteer shifts, Monthly numbers, Where the food comes from, Financial documents, Year-end
  • 02Checks: a needs line past its date, a closure without a reason, a shift short of people within three days, last month's numbers not entered by the 15th
  • 03A box with the hours line to paste into the Google Business Profile, built from the same sheet
  • 04Press Update on anything and the screen says "Nothing was saved"

Sample video

A Saturday, in a minute.

A sample of the one-minute videos in the plan: a distribution day, what the cash buys, and what the year added up to, told from the pantry’s own numbers.

  1. 1You send the photos and clips you already have, and a line or two on what the video is for: year-end giving, volunteers, an event, the story in your 990.
  2. 2We write a one-minute script from what is on your site and in your filing, and send it for your yes.
  3. 3We make it within one week of getting your material: about a minute, wide and vertical, captions burnt in, and a text version for your site.

Up to five a year are in the plan, at no extra charge. The first five nonprofits can have one free: see the offer →

Quarry Road is invented, so it has no footage of its own. This sample uses free stock footage where a real pantry’s own clips would go: no client and no face is shown. For your organization we use only the photos and clips you send.

Read the script instead (about one minute)

Saturday, nine a.m. Quarry Road Food Pantry, 61 Quarry Road, since 1994.

Anyone in the county, once a week. No proof of income. No ID.

You pick your own food: client choice, with a points guide by household size.

In 2025: 1,380 households, 3,940 people, 24,700 visits, and 612,000 pounds of food out the door — food bank 61 per cent, retail rescue 24 per cent, drives and purchases 15 per cent.

Cash spent in the year: $398,000. Food purchases $172,000, staff $109,000, building, utilities and the truck $63,000, administration $31,000, fundraising $23,000.

Sixty-five cents of cash moves one pound of food. Donated food, $842,000, is counted separately, shown the way the filing shows it.

Every figure is on the site. Give, volunteer, or host a food drive.

Sample video. Quarry Road Food Pantry is invented and every figure is a sample. Stock footage (Pexels) stands in for the pantry’s own clips; no client is shown and no one’s face appears. The narration is a synthetic voice and the music is AI-generated. Made by connectNPO.
